The Story Behind Verified Agents and Homes
Verified Agents and Homes was born from a real-life experience.
In December 2024, I marketed a short-let apartment on behalf of its owner. Unknown to us, the same apartment had been copied and reposted by other individuals on different online platforms.
A prospective guest eventually contacted one of those individuals, inspected the apartment and decided to make payment.
The payment, however, was sent to someone who was neither the property owner nor an authorized representative.
Neither I nor the apartment owner ever received the money.
After collecting the payment, the individual stopped answering phone calls and could no longer be reached.
The guest lost money.
The apartment owner lost a legitimate booking.
Everyone involved was left frustrated.
That experience revealed a much bigger problem. The issue was not only fake apartments—it was the absence of a trusted system for verifying who was genuinely authorized to represent a property and receive payment.
That experience inspired the creation of Verified Agents and Homes.
